ANTHONY L. LEFFERT

Anthony L. Leffert has more than twenty-five years experience in litigating complex business, commercial, fraud, and construction cases, and he has tried more than 100 jury and court trials. Recent trials include successfully prosecuted a jury trial involving the defective design of oil field equipment and fraud and successfully defended counterclaims of more than $1 million in the same case; successfully prosecuted and settled a case involving a corporate executive who was wrongfully terminated by the purchaser of his business; successfully defended at trial a real estate developer and obtained a judgment for the developer on its counterclaims; successfully defended a $4.7 million claim of defective software in federal court in New York; successfully defended two real estate development cases in Colorado District Court and successfully prosecuted an employment and breach of fiduciary duty case in Nevada.

Mr. Leffert is a member of the Colorado Bar Association's Ethics Committee. Additionally, Mr. Leffert is one of two Governor appointed members of the State Local Government Limited Gaming Impact Advisory Committee. The LGIAC was created by the Colorado Department of Local Affairs to provide financial assistance to local governments for finance planning, construction, maintenance of public facilities and the provision of public services related to documented gaming impacts. Further, Mr. Leffert serves as pro bono counsel to the Jefferson County Baseball League.

Mr. Leffert graduated from Northwest Missouri State University, B.S. Accounting with honors in 1978. He received his juris doctorate from the University of Nebraska in 1982 and obtained his LLM in banking and financial law from Boston University in 1988. He is admitted to practice law in Colorado, New York and Nebraska. Mr. Leffert served as a Federal Prosecutor with the Criminal Division, Fraud Section, in Washington D.C. and was appointed Deputy Special Counsel to the Attorney General for Financial Institution Fraud and worked as an advisor to Attorney General Janet Reno.

Following his service as a Federal Prosecutor Mr. Leffert returned to Denver, Colorado where he continues his trial practice emphasizing in business, commercial, construction and real estate litigation. Additionally, Mr. Leffert has regularly represented creditors and creditors committees in bankruptcies and adversarial proceedings.
